How the
Co-ed Fred
leagues run
Located in
Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, the
Co-ed Fred
Volleyball League has been in
existence since 1995 when eight teams joined to form the
Fredericton Senior B Co-ed Volleyball
League. Since then Co-ed Fred
has grown and now runs
and indoor league
from September to April with around 15
to 20 teams and from June to
August with around 30 outdoor beach teams.
During the
indoor season, league play takes place
every Sunday at École Sainte-Anne.
Depending on the number of registered teams,
the league is
2-tiered, with Tier 1 playing at a
competitive
level and Tier 2 at a
semi-competitive level.
In addition, there are up to six
tournaments
that are open to any Senior B co-ed
volleyball team which take place throughout the
season (three in the fall,
three in the winter/spring). Each
tournament hosts
from 15 to 20 teams.
Again, depending on
the number of registered teams, the tournaments are 2-tiered
as well.
During the
summer season, the Co-ed Fred Beach volleyball league
takes place at the Loyalist Rugby Club grounds
and plays on Mondays for Tier 1 and Thursdays for Tier 2.
Additionally, it hosts two co-ed 4s tournaments and the well-known Beach
Blast tournament which brings
more than
100 teams
from all over the Maritimes, including
Moncton, Saint John, Woodstock,
and even Halifax. Check out images and videos
of past Beach Blast tournaments in our
gallery section.
